Black Americans are buying firearms in record numbers – even those, which were previously against gun ownership or who were raised in gun free families.
If you haven’t read our article on how the Black American Militia is under attack from two white women – (Kristen J. Hafner from Financial Moxie and attorney Tamara Harper-Day), you can check it out here.
Aside from threats and lawsuits from white women, which are trying to subjugate and suppress Black owned businesses, Black Americans may feel that owning a gun is necessary for their own personal safety, particularly in light of instances of police brutality, hate crimes, and other forms of violence that disproportionately affect the Black community. As Malcolm X said, “The Constitution of the United States of America clearly affirms the right of every American citizen to bear arms,” so it’s important to exercise that very right.
The reality is though that the Black Americans have a long history of being targeted and oppressed, and owning a gun can be seen as a way to protect oneself and one’s family in the face of that oppression.
Moreover the political climate in the U.S. is a key motivator as well as some Black Americans are inspired to purchase firerms as a means of general protection.
